Will your school district be implementing the Lucy Calkins Units of Study in Writing in 2016-2017? If yes, join us for this one-day training
jumpstart. Participants will get an introduction to the materials in the kit and guidance in establishing structures and routines for successful
implementation, as well as helpful tips and tricks to ensure successful implementation. In addition, participants will explore the mini-lesson
structure, on-demand assessments, and writing pathways. Participants will need to decide which training level to attend, either the K-5 session or 6-8 session as both will be offered this day.
Participants will:
- Gain a greater understanding of the materials included in the kit
- Understand the structures and routines necessary to implement the units
- Consider mini-lessons they will want to teach in order to launch a writing workshop
- Understand the components and rationale for the on-demand assessment
