Paraprofessional Training: Executive Functioning and Mindfulness Practices
Dawn Mannebach, a CESA 8 School Psychologist, will address the different components of our brain-body connection that pertains to executive processing interdependency and relationship dynamics for its “total” functioning in effective ways to manage our day-to-day activities and responsibilities to the best of our abilities. When we are in the constant day-to-day movements of work related endeavors, we can easily lose sight to how we are functioning as well. Our minds are our builders; what we feed our systems, especially in thoughts and feelings, we also feed within every part of our brain-body awareness and its needs too. Our reactions are the very impulses we are when in complete regulation or in chaotic fields. We affect each other’s movements, not just our own while communicating, relating and celebrating all of life. Our children need to know we can live in our executive functioning responsibilities and be the very mindful practitioners that we expect them to be as well. Mindfulness is not only a skill but our way of making sure we really know what is happening within us and all around us as well. We work with children, staff, families and so on. We are the very ones we have been waiting for to be the very models of best practices that help all of us matter equally.
Cost: $30 per person for SNPD member districts; $75 per person for all other districts
NOTE: This training will be held again on March 9, 2017.
