Another Kind of Bullying: Preventing & Addressing Anti-Gay Bullying - CANCELED

Training Description: This training will assist participants in their understanding of issues related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) youth, anti-gay bullying, and school safety.  Participants will also get specific tools and activities to address anti-gay bullying and harassment that can be put to use immediately in their school or district.  NOTE: There will be a panel presentation consisting of students talking about their experiences.

Why Address Anti-Gay Bullying and Behavior?

• 4 out of 5 targets of anti-gay name calling and harassment identify as heterosexual.
• Anti-gay bullying has played a significant role in recent suicides and violence at the middle & high school levels.
• Students who are harassed because they are PERCEIVED to be lesbian, gay, or bisexual are more likely to engage in high-risk behavior.

Who Should Attend: Anyone who wants to know about this topic.  Teams of students are welcome! (up to 4 High School students & 1 adult per team)
 

Registration Fee (includes lunch):

• ATOD Network: $50/each OR $200/student team up to 5 people (4 High School students & 1 adult)
• ATOD Non-Network: $65/each OR $260/student team up to 5 people (4 High School students & 1 adult).  Non-network schools include Marshfield, Mauston, Reedsburg, Stevens Point, Waupaca, Wild Rose & WI Rapids.

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
