Description
In this 3-session workshop series, classroom teachers, special education and English Language Learner (ELL) teachers will learn specific ways to partner across the Reading Workshop block to maximize programming for all students, but especially for ELL and those students with Individual Education Plans (IEP). This workshop series will be a good fit for participants who are charged with meeting the needs of ELLs and students with IEPs in a Reading Workshop model.
Session topics by date:
Session 1 (Jan. 12th): Co-Teaching Formats to Meet IEP / Language Goals
Session 2 (Apr. 3rd): Collaborating and Co-Planning to Support Readers
Session 3 (May 2nd): Engaging Diverse Learners during Reading Workshop and Beyond
Workshop series objectives
Participants will learn to:
- Strategically use effective co-teaching formats.
- Maximize strategies for collaboration and communication.
- Set students up for high success: before the mini-lesson starts, across the workshop block, and throughout the layers of support.
- Implement language supports for ELLs.
- Apply culturally responsive and family engagement practices.

Cancellation Policy:
Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
