How do I contribute to literacy?
Keynote Speaker  - Barb Novak, Wisconsin Department  of Public Instruction, Literacy Consultant

Barb Novak is a literacy consultant at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) where she works collaboratively around standards, instruction, and assessment of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language. Barb is a proud believer in and product of Wisconsin's public schools. She attended public schools 5k through graduate programs in Hales Corners, Eau Claire, Stevens Point, Oshkosh, and Madison. Before beginning her employment at DPI in 2012, Barb served for 10 years as a classroom teacher, interventionist, and literacy coach in public schools in Chilton, Oshkosh, and Menasha.

• Professional Development Plan (PDP) - Stephanie Feldner, CESA 8 Curriculum Instruction & Assessment Co-Director
  Are you an initial educator wanting to know more about the PSP process for license renewal? OR Are you a professional educator, interested in exploring the possibility of switching from the 6-credit system to PDP for renewal? This session will provide you with an overview of PDP development and provide you with an opportunity for Q&A with our local PDP specialist.

• Speech/Language & Literacy Assessment Considerations - Dale Bailey, CESA 8 SLP & EC Literacy Coordinator 
• Intro to Trauma Sensitive Schools (TSS) - Pamala Black,

• IEP Forms/Format of College and Career Ready IEPs (continues into Session II breakout time slot) - Deb Wall, CESA 8 RSN Director
  Learn how this will change our focus at IEP meetings in preparing our students for the future.
• Mindset Matters: Closing the Gap Through Growth Mindset (continues into Session II breakout time slot) - Chris Van Hoof, CESA 8 Curriculum Instruction & Assessment Co-Director
  Are you interested in engaging students deeply in the joy of learning? Would you like to create a lively, dynamic classroom in which students are excited to learn and have the drive to keep exploring until they succeed? If you answered yes, then learning about growth mindset and the impact it can have on both the teacher and the students is an important next step.
  Participants will: *Explain the critical differences between fixed and growth mindset. *Use 3-5 strategies that help individuals move from a fixed to growth mindset. 
  Participants will walk away with: *KNOWLEDGE - Definition and characteristics of fixed and growth mindsets; awareness of available resources to help teach growth mindset. *SKILL - Ability to recognize fixed/growth mindset statements; ability to "talk back" to a fixed mindset statement. *DISPOSITION - Belief that changing the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us IS possible.
• Preschool Outcomes Reporting (continues into Session II breakout time slot) - Wendi Schrieter, CESA 8 Early Childhood Program Support
  With the change in Preschool Outcomes Reporting, there is also an increased emphasis on high quality assessment. This session will help determine how the entire IEP team can work together to ensure that outcomes are completed both accurately AND meaningfully! 
• Paraprofessionals - Timesheets (continues into Session II breakout time slot) - Aly Tress, CESA 8 Human Resource/Office Manager & Joelle Soderbeck, Payroll Administrator

Session II Breakouts   1:45 PM - 2:30 PM:

• Google Forms for Data Collection - Stephanie Feldner, CESA 8 Curriculum Instruction & Assessment Co-Director
  Gathering and tracking student IEP progress is easier than ever when using Google Forms. Google Forms allows all staff to be engaged in the data collection process. Find out how you can develop and use google forms to track speech, academic, and behavioral goals. To make this a more hands-on experience, please consider brining a laptop or chromebook to start the process of creating your own form for use this year.

CESA 8 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances.
