Take a break from the cold and snow of winter as you gather with other paraprofessionals in the comfort and warmth of the Elizabeth Inn in Plover, Wisconsin. You will be encouraged to rest, relax and take advantage of the facilities at the Elizabeth Inn. Delicious meals, tasty snacks and refreshing beverages will be provided as you participate in active learning activities throughout the weekend. Whether you work with elementary, middle or high school students, you will be provided with instruction, ideas and strategies you will be able to use when you return to school on Monday.
Abouth the Presenters: Karen Lietzow, is the Project Director for the Regional Service Network (RSN) at CESA 5, and has presented on a variety of educational practices at local, state, and national conferences. Prior to this she was an Assistant Director of Special Education in the Wautoma, Wild Rose, and Westfield School Districts. Before coming to CESA 5, she was a Special Education Supervisor with Milwaukee Public Schools, an adjunct faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, National-Louis University, and Viterbo University. CEC granted her distinction as a Professionally Recognized Special Educator (PRSE) and both MPS and the DPI recognized her for her contributions to staff development.
Sue Wellnitz, formerly worked as program support and the RSN Coordinator for CESA 5. She has presented at local, state, and national conferences on best practices in special education and the importance of providing quality staff development opportunities. Sue was a REACh mentor, regional center coordinator, and a CESA 5 CREATE representative.
Wendi Dawson is the CESA 5 Transition Coordinator for Columbia County Schools and Assistant Director of Special Education for the Randolph School District. She is also the director of the Columbia County Transition Advisory Council that meets monthly with local school and agency staff to plan transition related activities for students. Wendi was previously a teacher of students with severe Cognitive Disabilities, Autism, and Multiple Disabilities.
