August 19h Training is connected to the August 12th Training.
A potentially violent situation is an unsettling situation for everyone involved. The person who has “acted out” may run the gamut of emotions from fear to embarrassment. The person who attempts to intervene is subjected to tremendous stress and fear for his/her own personal safety.
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training will teach you how to prevent an emotionally and physically threatening situation from escalating out of control. The training will teach you practical techniques to help you defuse and explosive situation and feel confident about it. The NCI techniques emphasize both the staff person and the acting out person. NCI only recommends physical restraint when all verbal and para-verbal techniques have been exhausted.
This training will contain updated training material.
Presenter: Deb Wall, Certified NCI Trainer (CESA 8)
Cost: $90.00 per person - Member Districts (Includes training workbook and lunch)
$120.00 per person - Non-member Districts (Includes training workbook and lunch)
PLEASE NOTE: CHANGE TO TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
The new requirements state that the initial training now needs to be 12hrs. To meet the CPI training requirement, the August 9th training will still be the 8hrs (8:00AM-4:00PM) and include the updated training material minus the actual physical interventions/restraints. If you would like to receive the physical part of the nonviolent training you will need to attend another 4hrs of training here at CESA 8 with an additional minimal training fee.
