2-Day Training in Basic Restorative Practices for Educators, Pupil Services Staff and Community Partners
~Presented by Patrice Vossekuil, Coordinator of the IIRP-Wisconsin Partner and licensed IIRP trainer.~

IIRP research-based professional development is practical, face-to-face and collaborative to offer effective solutions to conflict, classroom and community disruption, and other behavior issues you address every day. Days 1 and 2 provide participants with practical concepts and hands-on skills to apply immediately in classroom and school-wide settings to strengthen culture and climate, and peer and authority interactions among studentsgrades PK-12.

Day 1:  Introduction to Restorative Practices

This training provides effective approaches for building positive relationships and school communities, addressing negative behaviors and their causes, and teaching students to accept accountability for actions that result in harm to others and themselves.  Group discussion, experiential group activities, and instructional video demonstrations prepare participants to implement restorative principles and practices adaptable to a full range of behavioral, interpersonal and academic issues.

Day 2: Using Circles Effectively

Focusing on core restorative circle and conferencing practices, this training expands on Day 1 skills in facilitating effective interactions that both prevent and address negative, counter-productive behaviors in classrooms, school environments, and communities.  Through intensive group practice and exploration of real-life situations, participants experience the power of circles in building strong relationships and communities and producing positive, cooperative teaching and learning outcomes.
