In this two-day workshop, educators will...

understand the relevance of constructionism (making) in the classroom.

explore opportunities for providing making projects in the classroom, including developing criteria for what makes a good project (experience the BreakoutEDU maker/team building trend sweeping the nation)

experience hands-on application of maker activities
-
What is fabrication? (Maker kit activity: Build a better phone) *Note: Participants will take their Maker kit home.

What is programming? (Spark Programming activity: using Scratch code to program a game)
-
What is robotics? (LEGO® MindStorms activity: color sorter)
-
-
explore community partnership potential (i.e. town boards, parks and recreation entities, manufacturing and industry leaders)
-
create assessments (both formative and summative) to evaluate both student progress and STEM-based initiative effectiveness
This workshop is TEACH 2.0 grant eligible!
This workshop is also offered at a discounted rate as it is partially funded by the CESA Foundation Grant. Two (2) Graduate Credits available through Viterbo University.
Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
