Since our goal is to reach and teach every student in our classroom, in this workshop, we will explore various tools and techniques to do just that. Our focus will be on three of the Wisconsin State Teacher Standards: Teachers know the subjects they are teaching, understand that children learn differently, and are able to plan different kinds of lessons.
Have you ever heard, "O.K., I'm finished, now what do I do?" We will look at various ways to answer that question. We will create independent learning centers that students can use to practice and fine tune a variety of math skills. We will explore various pieces of literature that lend themselves to integrated math lessons. Come see how SMARTboards, apps, and websites bring the world to your kids' fingertips, and how hands-on activities will keep those fingertips busy.
Our focus will be on Math Expressions, but if you teach a different program, you will be able to make and take many of these ideas and activities back to your classroom. If you have already taken Math Expressions sessions at Washburn Academy, you will be able to further explore the activities and technology components or you will have independent planning time to dig a bit deeper into the intervention resources.
Plan to take this session with your teaching team and utilize these days to plan and prepare for your upcoming school year. Don't forget your teachers' editions!
Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
