Corrective Reading is an accelerated reading intervention program designed to promote reading accuracy (decoding), fluency and comprehension skills for students in grades 4-12 who are reading below their grade level.  The decoding program includes four sequential levels that address students’ decoding skills. The placement test helps determine the correct starting level. Lessons are carefully crafted to meet the academic and emotional needs of intermediate and middle school students reading well below grade level.  All lessons provide word attack, story reading with understanding, fluency work, and written responses. CR is intended to be taught in 45-minutes lessons four to five times a week in small group instruction.  The program meets the requirements of a research validated intervention as described by the SLD law.

First time participants should attend Level B training on August 10th and may also choose to attend the second day of training for Levels A and C on August 12th.  If you’ve been previously trained in Level B, you will want to attend the training for Levels A and C. Most schools will begin implementation at Level B.
