This workshop will focus on providing Gifted/Advanced Learning services in a RtI Framework with a focus on attending to equity in our culturally responsive multi-level systems of support in order to:
-
Understand key elements of a culturally responsive multi-level system of support for advanced learning
-
Gauge equity within your current system of support for advanced learning
-
Identify potential areas vulnerable to disproportionality within your current system
-
Reframe for equity at both the student and school levels
Our guest speaker will be Heidi Erstad from the RtI Center. We recommend attending with someone with whom you would like to have a professional conversation about equity and providing GT services in an RtI framework within your school or district. We also ask that you review your school/district data prior to the meeting on the excellence gap (disproportionality in advanced achievement, AP class enrollments, GT identification, etc.). Please watch for an email in January with an Excellence Gap form to complete prior to the workshop.
Additional discussion topics at the February 9th meeting will include a brief Central WI Talented & Gifted (CWTAG) meeting and GT grant advisory planning (for 2017-18).
