Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills.

Beginning in the 2017-18 school year, legislation requires every school board to provide ACP services to all pupils enrolled in grades 6 - 12. This legislation is now integrated into the revised Education for Employment State Standard (M), which became effective December 1, 2015.

CESA 10 is hosting a series of workshops to provide support to district teams that will be responsible for its implementation.  The first session will provide Team Work time to begin to build your ACP Implementation Plan.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Participants will develop an understanding of how the revised Education for Employment (E4E) Plan requirement meshes with ACP.
  2. Participants will explore relationships between ACPs, their School Counseling Program, Student IEPs, and their district's current career exploration software and others.
  3. Participants will utilize the ACP Self-Assessment Rubric to determine their district's readiness for implementation.

Please mark your calendars for the second date of this series:  Thursday, April 14, 2016.
