Title I K-8 Math Network Meetings
Please join us as we offer two math network meetings second semester. We are excited to have math experts from throughout the state come in and share quality mathematical practices that support the implementation of math standards within multilevel systems of support, provide opportunities for collegial dialogue, support, and much more.
Network Meeting #1 - Quality Interventions in K-8 Mathematics
March 3, 2016 – CESA 8 Maple Room
9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
High quality intervention practices for mathematics are more than a program, a set of practice sheets, or memorizing math facts from flash cards. Interventions in the mathematics classroom are about gap-filling and skill-building based on principles from the IES practice guide "Assisting Students Struggling with Mathematics: Response to Intervention (RtI) for Elementary and Middle Schools." As we break apart the eight recommendations from the guide, we will explore best practices to implement, investigate potential intervention resources, and connect our learning to the specific needs of your students.
- Guest presenter, math consultant, Nicole Cooksey
- Networking time to reflect on current status of multilevel systems of support
Network Meeting #2 - Structures to Implement Math Intervention: A Case Study
April 25, 2016 – CESA 8 Aspen Room
9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Melissa will share her district’s journey of implementing Learning Lab Classrooms as a form of embedded professional development. As the district's elementary math instructional coach, she will also discuss math interventions, instructional coaching, their multilevel system of support and the journey they took to get where they are today.
- Guest presenter, math coach, Melissa Goodacre
- Networking time to share local implementation success and barriers
