What? This day will be spent:
- Learning about a framework for structuring parent/child interactions during 4K parent outreach hours that allows parents to explore their children’s literacy development and learn new ways to facilitate development in children with and without disabilities.
- The framework assists facilitators of the outreach hours to
- structure the environment to facilitate learning;
- use family coaching support strategies for intervention and
- create developmental observation topics designed to address child goals
Why? Often we use the 87.5 parent outreach hours in a way that has little impact. This day will allow participants to reflect on how to strengthen parent responsiveness, confidence and competence in supporting their child’s literacy development.
Who? 4K teachers, early childhood special education teachers, speech therapists, community partners
When/Where? February 11, 2016 - Registration at 8:30 am
Training begins at 9:00 am and goes to 3:00 pm (CESA 10 Conference Teleconference Center, 725 West Park Avenue, Chippewa Falls)
Follow-up: Share resources of what districts are doing for their 87.5 parent outreach hours, follow up survey on how they changed their hours and the effectiveness.
