What do closed-captioning, wheelchair ramps and adjustable car seats have to do with student engagement and increased student learning? Using what we’ve learned from designing products and architecture (concepts such as removing barriers and providing access for all) and applying it to lesson design, we can create classrooms where all students can thrive. This one-day session will provide an introduction to the concept and process of UDL.
Participants will…
-
understand how students learn and process information in various contexts
-
identify barriers that exist in curriculum
-
learn ways to design curriculum and lessons that are accessible to all
-
explore ways to increase student engagement
-
apply UDL principles to their current content
