On October 1, 2015, per federal mandate, all school-based services providers will be required to indicate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes on all claims with dates of service (DOS) on and after October 1, 2015.

Please plan to attend this workshop to learn about this new federal mandate and how it will effect School Based Services claiming procedures.

In one short hour, you will gain new insight on how ICD-10-CM codes will be playing a role in how School Based Services claims will be processed on and after October 1, 2015.  As a provider who administered the service, learn about selecting the most appropriate diagnosis code to be indicated on the claim.

Questions that will be addressed include:

  • What is ICD-10-CM?
  • How is the ICD-10-CM code set different than the ICD-9-CM code set?
  • Why are the ICD-10-CM codes being required?
  • Who should select the ICD10 codes?
  • Is it appropriate and allowable under Medicaid rules for individuals who are qualified to diagnose a child’s condition to select the ICD-10-CM code that will be used?
  • Should the code(s) chosen by a service provider be based on what the overall treatment is or the service he or she actually provided for the student?
  • If a student has more than one diagnosis, how does the provider decide which diagnosis code to use on the claim?

Questions, please contact Heidi Wold, hwold@cesa10.k12.wi.us, 715-720-2058.

If you would like to connect to a session via distance learning, please let Heidi know no later than October 23.  Let her know which session you will be attending and from what district/building.
