DPI Legal Update

Highlights of this presentation include a review of recent legal issues and legislative developments particular to Wisconsin affecting speech and language service; including specifics of the new intellectual disabilities (ID) and significant developmental delay (SDD), federal guidance to states, SLP licensure, scope of practice, and more with a participant question and answer period.

Why Literacy?: An Overview of Reading Drives Achievement: Success through Literacy (RDA:StL) in Wisconsin for SLPs

Participants will learn more about the overarching system developed in Wisconsin that will reshape special education and related services in Wisconsin public schools and how special education teachers and SLPs will play a critical role in increasing outcomes for students with disabilities.

Going Back to Basics to Move Forward: A Conversation about IEPs; Blending Compliance with Best Practice and Professional Guidance for SLPs in the RDA:StL System

RDA:StL places equal emphasis on compliance and results. Participants will learn how both of these components can be utilized by teams to create cohesive and high quality IEPs that can be implemented to support students on their path toward improved outcomes. A look at the new IEP forms being piloted will also be included.

Participants will be able to discuss local issues and learn how SLPs from other districts are dealing with current practices in their district as well as a state-wide perspective.
