About the WAPT “Screener”
The W-APT™ is the placement test for ELL Students. It is a local tool for
1. Placing new ELL students in the appropriate tier (within a grade cluster) of ACCESS for ELLs™ test.
2. Schools must screen new ELLS within 30 days of enrollment. The WAPT is a screener for determining appropriate placement.
3. Determining the English Level Proficiency (ELP) level for WKCE decision making and ACCESS for ELLs.™

Objectives
1. Understand how test items are organized.
2. Successfully administer and score the listening and reading test.
3. Apply speaking and writing test rubrics and reliably score them.

Participants will receive a binder with the downloaded test documents for using W-APT™ in their school district. We will review the W-APT™ testing manual, and practice administering and grading student exams at various grade levels. Test administrators are not required to pass the exams and quizzes in order to administer the W-APT™ Placement Test. Since the test administrator scores this test, it is anticipated that all individuals who administer the test have taken the test training.
