Overview

Session 1: 12:00 p.m.

Hot Topics and District Liability:  In this session Mary Gerbig will discuss understanding your responsibilities as the LEA representative under IDEA and Sec. 504.

Session 2:  1:30 p.m.

Least Restrictive Environment and the Use of Modified School Day Options:  In this session Attorney Mary Gerbig will discuss the use of modified school day options, such as shortened school days, and review the legal requirements for LRE under the IDEA and Sec. 504. Attorney Gerbig will discuss recent cases involving shortened school days, the factors IEP and 504 teams must consider when utilizing shortened school day placements, and practical considerations for placement decisions involving medical and behavioral issues.

Presenter/Coordinator:

Mary Gerbig:  Attorney with Davis Kuelthau.  Mary serves as counsel to numerous school districts throughout Wisconsin on school law.  She has extensive experience with regular education and special education issues.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received by the registration deadline date stated on the event for a refund to be issued. Persons registering and not in attendance on the day of the session will be charged the full registration fee (substitutions are accepted). CESA 12 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email or phone if a cancellation occurs.

Weather conditions:
