Teachscape Focus is a complete system for building a common language and shared understanding of teaching effectiveness among observers and teachers based on Danielson's Framework for Teaching (FfT).  Districts who are utilizing the state framework with Teachscape will need to certify as trained observers using the FfT.  All evaluators completing observations of educators for the purpose of educator effectiveness scoring must be certified through Teachscape Focus.  Superintendents who are evaluating principals who are evaluating teachers with the framework will also want to be familiar with the framework.  In addition, EE coaches are highly recommended to participate, but will need to be added to the district's Teachscape Focus account as a user.

All participants desiring to obtain certification, should ensure their Teachscape accounts include Focus. Please contact Teachscape to have users added to the Focus account.

With training, scoring practice, participants can pass this rigorous proficiency assessment.  Teachscape Focus helps increase confidence in the evaluation process.  It also builds a structure for the ongoing conversations that are part of a continuous improvement process.  Please note, this is the TRAINING PREP workshop for certification.  Participants will take the CERTIFICATION TEST INDEPENDENTLY.

Note:  A follow-up calibration for observers is required each semester.  This calibration can be done independently by the local district.

Who should attendAll administrative personnel who evaluate educators; others, (such as EE coaches) who will be conducting observations of practice to provide formative feedback to educators and to increase the collection of evidence in order to address capacity concerns of evaluators.

Cost:  CESA 5 School Improvement Consortium: $100
          All others: $200

This workshop is offered for graduate credit(s) through Edgewood College, pending approval.  The cost of credits ($170 each) is not included in event registration.
