We will examine 100+ recently released picture books, visit Gold Star student websites and award-winning teacher resource sites, and learn how to responsibly use technology in our PK-2 classrooms. We’ll look at activities that make kids WANT to write and we’ll discuss research based techniques, strategies, and practices that create lifelong readers and writers. We’ll also look at some commonly used (but questionable) practices that perhaps should be discarded. We’ll discuss the pros and cons of popular reading and writing structures, and take a cursory look at the latest research on how room organization affects the learning process. And lastly, due to popular request, each grade level will have a daily, hour long Sharing of Best Practices time-slot where participants can tell what is working for them, hear what fellow Wisconsin educators are doing in their classrooms, and discuss concerns.
Participant Cancellation Policy:
You must contact CESA 4 to cancel attendance one week prior to the scheduled event unless otherwise stated in the individual event details. CESA 4 will only provide full refund of registration fees depending on individual circumstances. Refunds depend upon the ability of CESA 4 to cancel any financial obligations created by the registration such as meals, materials, etc. CESA 4 reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by e-mail or phone if a workshop is cancelled. If a participant is a 'no show' the school will be billed for the registration fee, or loss of the 'free' attendance slot.
Dietary Restrictions:
Because of the number of meals served, number of ingredients used, and food product changes from vendors, we cannot guarantee dietary restrictions as indicated in a user's myQuickReg profile will be accommodated. Participants with dietary restrictions such as food allergies should plan to bring their own refreshments.
Weather Conditions:
If a workshop has been cancelled due to weather conditions, every effort will be made to reschedule the workshop. If weather conditions are questionable, please call CESA 4 Voice Mail at (608) 786-4800; Toll Free (800) 514-3075. A message will be posted regarding workshop weather cancellations.
Additional Accommodations:
