Join Nancy Ahkavan, well- known author, educational leader and professional developer, as she focuses on literacy instruction in Title I schools. She will help teachers and leaders focus what's important--the children, the standards and on your own teaching. Rather than resorting to prescriptive interventions that are highly marketed and deemed "research-based," you will learn more about balanced literacy, an essential approach that helps ALL children learn to read. Nancy will share classroom-tested solutions to the unique challenges and funding-dependent federal and state mandates that Title I schools face.

In addition to the foundations and benefits of balanced literacy, you will learn how to: create a classroom reading library, focus on lessons from phonics to comprehension strategies, and design units of study for kindergarten through third grade and use a learning wall for various units of study

Nancy will also address the Title I guidelines and fundamental principals that impact your work in schools.

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee.
