COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Learn the secrets to pro-active media preparedness.  Whether you are in the midst of a crisis or trying to get a story published, this workshop takes you from the “fundamentals” to the “extreme.” The trademark “MediaTalk” method – more than 20 years in the making – teaches you how to encounter an interview without crumbling and to be ever prepared to say the right thing at the right time to the right people. This session includes instruction, interaction and videotaped role-playing scenarios, along with a course outline and Tip Sheet of the “10 B’s” to help guide you after you return home.

COURSE BONUS:
As an added feature, this course will also cover how to translate education language into clear, coherent messages in the digital world, whether it’s writing voice messages during a crisis, entertaining material for social media or persuasive arguments in a presentation on trends or budgets.

INSTRUCTOR: DAVID R. VOSS
David R. Voss has been communicating with the public about education and non-profit causes for the past 30 years...as Director of Communications for the Florida Department of Education, as Director of Marketing for Apple Computer’s Education Division, and as President of Voss & Associates, a full service communications company with its heart in education.

He has trained hundreds of professionals in the art of communication, whether it’s in front of the camera, speaking to thousands or meeting one-on-one. As a former journalist and TV producer, he understands the media from the inside out.  As a former Press Secretary for a governor and Commissioner of Education, he understands what it’s like to be on the Hot Seat. As technology and society evolves in the 21st century, he continues to adapt to the changing landscape of the media, its staff and its role in school communications. He engages audiences with a rich repository of stories and realistic answers to virtually every question, creating an entertaining and satisfying five hours of learning.
