#983 Adolescent Literacy Network

If your district is searching for ways to improve adolescent literacy practices, or if you are a teacher who works with adolescent readers with widely varying abilities, we invite you to join our networking group. As educators, we are our own best resources, and several districts in CESA 5 are meeting the literacy needs of struggling students in unique and effective ways.

This networking opportunity is perfect for reading specialists, coaches and teachers of adolescents, which typically includes students in grades 4-12.

Topic: Engagement

This meeting will focus on a variety of strategies to engage adolescent learners. We will discuss current articles and teacher resources, as well as engagement issues in your building. Based on recent grade reports, what is the number of students failing due to non-academic reasons? What is being done in your building to engage kids? Jacki Martindale will be joining us in the afternoon to present Poetry Out Loud, one of many contests which may help to engage some of your students.
 

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
