On the first day of this workshop, teachers will look at number sense development, how to assess it, and how it can be used to provide data to drive instruction, as well as to ensure that the differentiated lessons selected for a student are appropriate level for independent skill development. This data is also used for creating small groups for differentiating lessons. We will then discuss supporting students' problem solving skills with strategies that follow Common Core State Standards Progressions and Cognitively Guided Instruction.
The second day will begin with a discussion of the philosophy and rationale behind students using math boxes during your math block and to support math interventions in your classroom. Teachers will get tips for organizing the time for math instruction, including introduction of the boxes for differentiation, creation of math stations that include math boxes small group work, and monitoring student progress.
Each participant will leave with a flash drive of all the information and activities from the training as well as the assessment materials.
Registration is $120 per teacher for the two-day training.
