This workshop will provide participants with a framework, resources, and tools to guide – and bring coherence to – classrooms, school and district improvement efforts. This workshop is being co-sponsored by Wisconsin ASCD and CESA 9.

Instructor Tony Frontier, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Doctoral Leadership Studies at Cardinal Stritch University. A former teacher in the Milwaukee Public Schools and Curriculum Director in the Whitefish Bay School District, he has been recognized by Marquette University as the Outstanding Young Alumnus of the College of Education, by ASCD as an Emerging Leader, and as the state of Wisconsin’s Outstanding Young Educator. Tony is co-author, with Robert Marzano and David Livingston, of Effective Supervision: Supporting the Art and Science of Teaching, and is co-author, with James Rickabaugh, of Five Levers to Improve Learning: Prioritizing for Powerful Results in Your School.

Participants will:

§  Develop an understanding that nearly all educational practices can be grouped into one of five categories; and the relative utility of each of those categories to leverage school improvement.

§  Understand typical “leverage errors” and how to avoid them.

§  Tap the power of “leverage advantages” that maximize the potential to influence student learning.

§  Understand the differences among status quo planning, transactional change, and transformational change; and how to identify the characteristics and processes indicative of each of these three types of change.

§  Ask critical questions to prioritize initiatives and efforts across classrooms, schools, and districts.

Cost: $150 per person for WASCD and CESA 9 School Improvement Members (includes lunch)
    Others - $200
