Common Core Essential Elements and Instruction, What's the Connection?

Topic: Using Common Core Essential Elements to develop curriculum and instruction for ELA and Mathematics

Participants will have an opportunity to connect Common Core Essential Elements with curriculum and instruction in the areas on ELA and mathematics used in their classrooms. Different approaches in the development of curriculum and instruction will be discussed with time built in for participants to explore how this can work for them.

Participants should bring their copy of the CCEEs for ELA and mathematics to work from.

Presenter:  Sandy Berndt has been in the field of special education for her entire career. Her career included teaching, support and administration. She spent 20 years before retirement at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction on the Special Education Team in a variety of positions including Section Chief for Program Review and Compliance Section, Monitor Team Leader and Education Consultant for CD Programs. Since her retirement, she continues to work with school districts, CESAs and DPI to assist them in providing appropriate programs and services for students with CD.

Cost:  $25.00 per person for SNPD member districts; $50.00 per person for all other districts.
