American Institutes for Research - Beth Ratway
Beth has served as the Social Studies consultant at D.P.I. and now works with Great Lakes and Midwest Comprehensive Centers to assist education agencies and intermediary school districts with implementation of Common Core and developing innovative 21st century systems that improve academic achievement for all students.

National History Day - Sarah Fallon
Sarah is the State Coordinator for National History Day and will share an ideal format for that helps meet multiple components of the model academic standards. Students become historians and develop a breadth of 21st century skills - research, writing, critical thinking, communication – as they complete their project . Students have the option of entering these projects into a series of competitive events.

“Doing History” - Recording Your Community’s History - Shane Larson
Shane is a Social Studies teacher from Rosholt who is taking his history class into the community. Through the use of media, primary sources such as the communities citizens and locations, the history of Rosholt will come alive for the students and be preserved for the future.
Lesson and Resource Ideas From Your Peers - CESA 5
Significant collaborating connections can be made by sharing resources and lessons with your peers from around the CESA and beyond. Plan on taking home items shared by conference attendees . Be sure to bring 25 copies of a lesson or a resource that you would like to share.

**Bring 25 copies of a lesson plan or resource that you have delivered that you think is “top notch”. 
When leaving at the end of the day you will depart with 25 “top notch” lessons/resources to take to your school!**

Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a full refund if they cancel before 10 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Because of our commitment to the trainer and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 10 working days or do not attend, will be billed the full fee. CESA 5 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. Inclement weather policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 5 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been canceled due to weather conditions.
