We have the good fortune of having Dr. Penny Britton Kolloff presenting at CESA 10 on Wednesday, November 12, 2014.
Dr. Kolloff has a long and distinguished career in education. Penny has taught elementary and middle school students in gifted and regular classrooms and has also served as a curriculum coordinator and a director of gifted and talented programs. At the university level, she taught pre-service and graduate teachers. She has published extensively and presented locally, nationally and internationally on a variety of topics pertaining to the education of gifted students.

Building on the previous workshops in CESA 10, this workshop will focus on differentiating instruction for our highest achieving learners. According to Carol Ann Tomlinson (2000), “ … differentiation consists of the efforts of teachers to respond to variance among learners in the classroom. Whenever a teacher reaches out to an individual or small group to vary his or her teaching in order to create the best learning experience possible, that teacher is differentiating instruction. It is an approach to teaching that advocates active planning for student differences in classrooms.” In this workshop, Dr. Kolloff will present a variety of specific strategies, suggest approaches to modifying instruction to meet varied learner needs, and dispel some common misconceptions about differentiating instruction. Participants will work in groups to create differentiation approaches for a variety of sample lessons.

Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity. Register now for the workshop.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Strategies for modifying instruction to meet the varied needs of learners.
2. Dispel some common misconceptions about differentiating instruction.
3. Create a differentiated lesson.
