October 10th date has been cancelled.

This is a two day workshop where your team picks one October date and then everyone will attend the January date. 4K and Kindergarten teachers will sit together and discuss how the WMELS and the CCSS intersect, where potential overlay may be and how we can better prepare our students for the literacy demands of the CCSS. The CCSS have been adopted by 48 states and are now the basis of our new state assessment, Smarter Balanced Assessment, which will begin being utilized during the 2014-2015 school year. The demands are greater and more significant than in the past. We need to identify the changes that need to be made at our foundational levels to best support our learners. This will be an intense two days of work with additional work expected from participants within their districts. If interested in sending your entire 4K/K team, please contact Leah Ahneman at CESA 10. All participants will need to be in attendance both days.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Participants will establish a better understand of the CCSS.
  2. Participants will identify standards for 4K.
  3. Participants will understand how those identified standards can be met through developmentally appropriate instruction while still reaching high standards of learning.
