A Multi-Sensory Approach to Sound Symbols Connection, A Phonological Overview

This course will present a kinesthetic, hands-on approach for bridging the gap between phonological awareness, reading and written language. Attendees will learn specific hand symbols for consonants and vowels that will assist in teaching rhyme, alphabetic code, sound-symbol relationships, phoneme segmentation and blending. 

Presenter: Peggy Northrup, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a speech/language pathologist who has over 20 years of experience working with children in a public school setting. She is dedicated to improving literacy skills of all children.

Target Audience: Teams of Head Start, preschool, kindergarten, Title I and 1st grade teachers, speech & language pathologists, reading specialists, teachers of students with learning and/or coginitive disabilities, reading paraprofessionals and principals.

Should enrollment be insufficient to cover the cost of this event, registered participants will be notified by email.
Cancellation Policy: Participants must cancel more than 48 hours from this event or will be billed.


Cancellation Policy: Registered participants will receive a refund if they cancel prior to 3 working days before an event, minus any material costs that have already been incurred. Cancellations must either be made on MyQuickReg or by emailing cancel@cesa2.org. Because of our commitment to the presenter and the food vendor, participants who cancel less than 3 working days prior to the event or who do not attend the event, will be billed the full fee. CESA 2 reserves the right to cancel any event. Registered participants will be notified via phone and email if a cancellation occurs and will receive a full refund. 

Inclement Weather Policy: Every effort will be made to hold an event. CESA 2 will notify participants via email as soon as possible if an event has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
