Join Jackie Drummer, GT Coordinator and Differentiation Specialist from the School District of South Milwaukee as we explore how to reach gifted learners in the regular classroom.

We will be referencing the book: The Cluster Grouping Handbook: A Schoolwide Model: How to Challenge Gifted Students and Improve Achievement for All by Susan Winebrenner.  If you would like to purchase the book for $23.70, please check the box indicating you would like the cost of the book added to your registration fee.  You will receive the book at the workshop.

Objectives for October 3, Part I, include:
1) Educators (teachers and administrators) will explore the beliefs and values that support differentiation as a Tier I intervention in an RtI system.
2) Educators (teachers and administrators) will learn and practice basic differentiation strategies (e.g., compacting/pretesting, flexible grouping, interest and learning centers, independent learning contracts, tiered assignments, and questioning), and more complex differentiation strategies (e.g., "hardest first", cubing, think dots, orbitals, RAFTS and tic-tac-toe menus) that stimulate and challenge gifted learners.
3) Educators (teachers and administrators) will be able to assess their progress toward effective differentiation as they initiate and evaluate progress for SLOs or PPGs.

If your SLO is targeting the growth of ALL learners in your classroom, you'll want to attend this session to gather best practices for reaching gifted learners. In this session, participants will learn the "secrets" of cluster grouping teachers who work with SwGT (Students with Gifts and Talents) in the regular ed classroom. While cluster grouping is an effective means to provide programming for SwGT, you will benefit from this session regardless of the model your district uses for serving SwGT

Objectives for March 6, Part II,  include:
1) Educators (teachers and administrators) will understand that clustering gifted students is an excellent, viable, and low-cost/no cost option for schools and districts to effectively serve gifted students.
2) Educators (teachers and administrators) will learn how to cluster group gifted students, how to work with parents, and how to evaluate resources, materials, and teacher willingness/effectiveness in working with gifted students in a clustered environment.
3) Educators (teachers and administrators) will be able to assess the progress they've made toward serving all learners in their schools and classrooms. (Again, this data could be used for SLOs -- student learning objectives and/or school learning objectives).
