2022 - 2023 School Year

OVERVIEW:

Professional learning communities provide opportunities for leaders, specialists, and teachers to engage with peers regarding topics of interest within their discipline. The Safe & Healthy Schools Series provides timely information on Safe & Healthy Schools, Mental Health, Homelessness, and Other Behavioral Health Issues and Topics. 

 

OBJECTIVES:

  • Provide opportunities for networking with other district staff around safe and healthy community programs, policies, procedures and processes.
  • Share experiences and ideas based on best practice in all areas of youth risk/resilience and staff resilience.
  • Enhance professional development of leaders in the safe and healthy community field.
  • Keep the leaders in the field apprised of current trends, legal issues, and up-to-the minute funding opportunities.
  • Prevention strategies and topics of interest. • Build capacity to create a safe and healthy community.
  • Develop a community of educational and community staff who facilitate the programs and projects under the umbrella of Safe & Healthy.

 

SCHEDULE:

September 30, 2022: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Topic: Understanding Grief and Loss in Children and Youth with Erin Hollister, Director, The Center for Grieving Children.

January 25, 2023: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Topic: This will encompass the state DPI ATOD Competitive grants and the state DPI Comprehensive School Based Mental Health Systems competitive grants.

March 10, 2023: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Topic: Understanding Anxiety and Depression in youth, and strategies to address in the school setting

May 3, 2023: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Topic: DOTS - Depending on Staff and Teachers

Cost: $185 per session or Free for 4 Staff of the Safe and Health Schools & Communities.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
