Career pathways are a series of connected education, training, and support strategies aimed at helping students achieve their own definition of success. Providing career pathways means that education and training align with the needs of the local job market, provide a range of secondary and postsecondary options, result in a secondary high school diploma with at least one recognized postsecondary credential, and help students enter or advance within an occupation. Providing career pathways in a school district means that a specific ACP plan is developed for some occupations, allowing schools to focus on student and curriculum activities in the school with support from regional conveners of business and higher education.

Those districts ready to align their local instruction and activities in a state-endorsed pathways model are required to first receive training making use of DPI-created modules exploring pathways and their use. The New North region of Wisconsin will specifically be endorsing pathways in Advanced Manufacturing and IT this year. Get YOUR district ready for pathways work by attending Pathways Module Training!
