Coding for PreK-Grade 3

Learning to control computers and be a creator of technology instead of just a consumer is powerful, fun, and everyone can do it! Learning the basics of code and computational thinking are foundational skills that all kids should learn.  This workshop will give you the confidence to bring coding to your students.  You will walk away with practical, hands-on interdisciplinary activities that you can implement right away.  

Learning outcomes will include:

• Participants will understand why computational thinking is important for our youngest learners.
• Participants will learn easy, fun, and free coding activities - many of which are screen-free and hands-on. 
• Participants will practice with hands-on activities, design a simple video game, and learn to program a robot.
• Participants will leave with a practical plan for implementing code and computational thinking in their classroom right away, even with no prior computer or coding background. 

If your students have access to internet-enabled devices such as Chromebooks or iPads, please bring one of these devices with you.  

This workshop is offered at a cost of $50 to those districts participating in LS2, including Abbotsford, Bloomer, Bruce, Cadott, Colby, Cornell, Flambeau, Gilmanton, Greenwood, Lake Holcombe, Loyal, Neillsville, New Auburn, Osseo-Fairchild, Owen-Withee, Spencer, and Thorp.  (Discount will be automatically applied.)

The cost for all other CESA 10 districts will be $175 per participant, and the cost for all others will be $300 per participant.
