This session provides an in-depth look at what we know about the importance of creating “neural pathways” in the brain, and how that translates into practical classroom application in beginning reading instruction. In this informative, practical, hands-on session, we will cover the following topics:

•Brain Research regarding how to build the reading brain*

•Decodable Text vs Leveled Text

•Text mediation strategies

•Phoneme-Grapheme Mapping*

•Dialogic Read Alouds*

•Decoding multisyllabic words

•Text dependent questions*
