Kris McDaniel, WI DPI Social Studies Consultant, is partnering with CESA 6 to offer one-day workshops to assist districts with implementation of the revised social studies standards.  These workshops will kick off the Year 2 focus of "Curriculum" rollout encouraged by DPI.  Kris will be in CESA 2 presenting, and participating CESAs will join via Zoom with an expert facilitator.

Day 1: October 14, 2019 

The first workshop will look at the K-12 curriculum process, and walk through refining local curriculum to meet your students needs. Resources and planning include:

  • Gap analysis
  • Systems of Assessment
  • Roadmap to Inquiry
  • Quality Resources Rubric analysis

 

Day 2: October 29, 2019

This workshop will focus exclusively on K-5 Social Studies curriculum work. We will dig deep into the suggested K-5 appendices to help you find what works for your district. Resources and planning include:

  • Suggested K-5 Scope & Sequence
  • Social Studies & Science vocab connections
  • Quality Resources Rubric analysis

*Kurt Griesemer, Coordinator of Primary Education at the WI Historical Society, will be joining Kris McDaniel at this workshop

 

Day 3: March 19, 2020

The third workshop will continue the work started in October for K-12 social studies. We will continue with discussions and analysis of resources tied to standards and systems of assessment, and we will spend some time dipping into the content appendices to support quality instruction. Resources and planning include:

  • Appendices (Wisconsin Studies, American Indian Studies, and all Content areas)

 

  • Systems of Assessment Part Two
  • Quality Resources Rubric analysis

Who should attend?

Each collaborative session is designed for district teams or individuals involved in Social Studies standards rollout.

 

Cost: (includes materials and lunch)

$100 per person per day

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
