Will your school district be implementing the Lucy Calkins Units of Study in Writing during the 2019 - 2020 school year? If yes, join Brittany Meier, Literacy Consultant, for this one-day workshop to "jumpstart" your professional learning. Participants will be introduced to the materials in the kit, receive guidance in establishing structures and routines for successful implementation, and explore tips and tricks to ensure successful implementation.

OBJECTIVES
Participants will:
- Examine the key principles that undergrid the Lucy Calkins Writing Units of Study.
- Understand the structures and routines necessary for facilitating an effective Writer's Workshop.
- Gain a stronger understanding of the resources included in the Lucy Calkins Writing Units of Study.
- Examine the structure of a Writing Unit of Study.
- Examine the structure and components of a Writer's Workshop mini-lesson.
- Understand the components of and the rational for the on-demand assessments.
THIS WORKSHOP IS A GOOD FIT FOR
Classroom teachers in grades K-5, reading teachers, reading specialists, literacy coaches, and administrators.
PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING
Lucy Calkins Writing Units of Study kits.
COST *: $150 per participant
* Principal's Rate = $35 if attending with a team of at least 4 additional staff members.

Cancellation policy: Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full refund to be issued. Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
