Canceled: Launch Writing Workshop in Kindergarten the Right (Write) Way!

Launch the Writing Workshop in Kindergarten with three new writing units that take into account the development of the 5-6 year old writer. Participants will explore mini-units that are appropriate for launching the year with the Kindergarten writer in mind: Illustrations Unit, Storytelling Unit, and a Bookmaking Unit.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

• Read and understand the mini-lessons that were created for each unit of study and personalize as needed.
• Identify the assessment options that can be used to show proficiency.
• Creating and design anchor charts to support the teaching points in the mini-lesson.
• Develop a list of mentor texts that can be used to support the writers during the unit of study.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

• Kindergarten teachers, Literacy Coaches, Reading Specialists, Principals, and Curriculum & Instruction Directors.

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING:

• Mentor texts used to launch the Writing Workshop.
• Resources used to launch the Writing Workshop.
• A laptop.

COST*: $150 per Participant
* Principal's Rate = $35 if attending with a team of at least 4 other staff members.
