This three-session workshop is designed for CESA 6 school or district leadership teams to develop a systemic year-long approach to data use resulting in identification of opportunity gaps, strategies for closing these gaps and planning for moving toward effective equitable practices. The leadership team will collaboratively investigate student data and adult practices that may be contributing to student performance.

Activities
Leadership teams will engage in a structured data analysis process to investigate the attainment and growth of all students, including student groups, over the past one to three years. Teams will utilize a variety of data sources, analysis and planning tools, and team processing of data
findings, while documenting the work. Data findings will lead into a process for identifying potential root causes in practice for the critical data findings. This will result in teams using a process for improvement planning.
Participants will:

  • Develop essential achievement and engagement data questions

  • Analyze current data charts and graphs that answer essential questions

  • Summarize and prioritize data findings

  • Develop data-informed goals for closing gaps

  • Identify most likely root cause

  • Design and implement an inquiry of adult practices identified as likely root cause for the student data findings

  • Begin to plan to implementation of research-based strategy(ies)

  • Address ways to include PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act)  cycles and the EE (educator evaluation) process within the system
