This workshop will engage participants in developing a deeper understanding of how the new Wisconsin Science Standards connect to meaningful assessments. Participants will experience how to leverage the standards and accompanying support to design, teach and assess science. We will learn how to incorporate the science practices, cross-cutting concepts and content progressions while designing/revising a lesson and an associated assessment.

Attendance of DAY ONE is NOT a requirement to attend DAY TWO.

Key Goals:

As a result of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Review effective assessment examples and revise assessments of participants
  • Designing rubrics for performance tasks
  • Correlate how systems of assessment work together
  • Investigate Forward Exam and ACT assessment questions and discuss their connections to the standards
  • Understand how to design assessment authentically to check for understanding and work on  a 3D assessment

We’ll have time to discuss and share resources related to questions from participants.

Who should attend?

K-12 Teachers, Instructional coaches, Curriculum specialists, and others who teach or design science instruction.

Registration fee:  $100 per participant (includes materials and lunch)
