High school teachers are tasked with an important challenge: teach our youth how to be powerful writers, access complex texts, effectively use discourse and academic language, and justify their reasoning using evidence…all while fostering personal growth and development. That is significant! Learn how implementing the workshop model in your English Language Arts (ELA) classroom can help support your learners in accomplishing all of the above. The ELA workshop addresses methods for supporting learners through whole group, small group, and individual instructional opportunities in order to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

WORKSHOP FACILITATED BY:

Heather Anderson

CESA 6 Literacy Consultant

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

  • Examine the role of the teacher: establishing routines and norms.
  • Discuss collaborative strategies to improve discourse and use of academic language.

  • Learn from one another in a safe and supportive environment.
