Illustration Unit of Study for Pre-Kindergarten

All children can tell stories when they come to school and most can draw. Drawing can be the first tool writers use to get their message on paper. We can teach students different shapes and how those can be used to draw people and animals. This workshop details out a Unit of Study focused on Illustrations for the early writer.

OBJECTIVES

Participants will:

• Understand the difference between shared and interactive writing.
• Develop an understanding of a series of lessons that details out shapes and lines.
• Draw and develop examples to be used with their early writers.
• Use mentor texts that will support the early writer.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Pre-Kindergarten Teachers, Reading Specialists, Literacy Coaches, Instructional Leaders, and Principals.

PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING:

• Mentor texts used to teach shapes.
• Mentor texts used in the Fall (September).
• A laptop.

TIMES: 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
             Q&A = 2:30 – 3:00 p.m.

REGISTRATION FEE*: $150 per participant
Includes access to online materials and resources and lunch.
* Principals’ registration fee is just $35 if attending with a team of at least 4 staff members.
* The CESA 6 administration has changed the policy for workshop / event payment beginning with this 2018-2019 school year.  A purchase order (PO) is required in order for CESA 6 to invoice the school district.  CESA 6 will also accept payment by check, ACH transfer, or credit card.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full refund to be issued. Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee.
