This network is designed to bring digital leaders from districts together to learn latest digital learning updates, including certifications and funding, explore best practices and strategies for maximizing technology in teaching and learning, and grow professional learning networks. Digital learning expert guest speakers are scheduled for each networking session. Library media specialists, instructional technology specialists or coaches, and individuals charged with the everyday planning and implementation of effective digital learning practices are encouraged to attend and bring back valuable information and resources.

AFTERNOON SESSION: "Student Safety in the Digital Age: Best Practices for Schools and Parents"

This presentation will discuss the current trends of cyber-bullying and self-hart/suicide in US schools. The presenters will also highlight best practices for schools and parents to detect/prevent suicide or bullying, and share available technology that schools can utilize to combat these issues.

Participants will gain an understanding of the current trends for self-harm/suicide, cyber-bullying, and other issues that are impacting US schools. With growing 1:1 initiative in K-12, and the increase in digital learning environments, schools are faced with new risks which need to be managed. This increased access to technology, combined with the prevalence of social media, has dramatically increased student exposure to cyber-bullying and harassment. Participants will leave the presentation with information they can transfer to other stakeholders in their district that can spark productive conversations about assessing the current impact increased access top technology is having on students in their district, and what steps are needed to address any problems that are identified.

Participants will also learn about resources (both free and paid) that schools and parents can take advantage of to combat these issues. The knowledge of various resources gained by participants will be able to be easily transferred to other stakeholders in their community.
