Description:
This workshop will provide support for districts that would like to audit what is currently in place to meet the expectations of financially literate students. Wisconsin Act 94 (2017) requires all school districts to adopt academic standards for financial literacy into the K-12 curriculum. A comprehensive, developmentally appropriate pre-kindergarten through grade 12 program can promote personal financial literacy throughout numerous curricular areas. Come learn from others as we explore the many strategies schools are using to meet this financial literacy expectation. Educators from all grade levels can use the financial literacy standards to align instruction and create curriculum and activities designed to instill a desire to be financially literate within students.

Objectives:

  • Review the Wisconsin Financial Literacy Standards
  • Map out or review where these standards are currently taught K-12
  • Network and learn from how other districts are addressing the financial literacy expectations.
  • Build staff capacity with financial literacy vocabulary.
  • Develop an action plan to fill any gaps identified.
