Per Wisconsin DPI: Effective January 31, 2014, applicants for initial licensure as an elementary teacher (grades K-5, EC, EC-MC, MC-EA), a special education teacher, a reading teacher, or reading specialist must receive a passing score of 240 or higher on the Wisconsin Foundations of Reading Test.  Any licensed teacher wanting to add one or more of these areas to their license must also pass the test. 

Description

This training session will help participates prepare for the WI-Foundations of Reading Test (FORT), as well as give them practical instructional information and activities that can be applied in their own teaching experience.

Training topics

  • Overview of the five Essential Literacy Strands
  • Practical tips and guidelines for preparing for the WI-FORT Test
  • Content that addresses English Language Learners
  • Overview of Assessment (Formal and Informal)
  • Age-appropriate learning strategies/activities
  • Practice identifying strengths and weakness of students to better prepare to write Miscue Analysis and Comprehension Analysis Essays
  • Preparation materials and additional lists of resources (online and paper) in order to have a better understanding of the WI-FORT test

Who should attend?

Individuals who are currently seeking teacher licensure and plan to take the WI-FORT test within the next 1-6 months.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
