Presenter:  Kristin McDaniel, Social Studies Consultant, WI Dept. of Public Instruction

This workshop will provide an opportunity for K-12 classroom teachers (and co-teachers) to learn about inquiry resources for social studies that already exist, and to work on an inquiry lesson or unit of their own.

  • Gain a general understanding of the research supporting the inquiry cycle in social studies teaching and learning and explain the four parts to an inquiry.
  • Summarize the importance of student questioning, based on pertinent research, and the lack of pedagogy experience in encouraging questioning
  • Assess Question Formulation Technique for use in the classroom

Participants are required to bring several lesson plans and/ or a unit plan along with laptop/Chromebook.

Workshop Fee:  $50
