The most effective way to improve classroom practice is through work located within schools, conducted among colleagues, and integrated with teachers’ day-to-day practice. Participants in a professional book study read and discuss a book related to theoretical and pedagogical frameworks to expand their understanding of best practices, enhance their teaching, and make connections to their own classroom. By collaboratively sharing and building knowledge, participants develop and implement an inquiry plan that focuses on enhancing their teaching and improving student achievement.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Participants will examine existing classroom instructional practices to identify strengths and gaps for professional growth.
  • Participants will share and/or analyze diverse perspectives on the text content in order to build knowledge on the topic.
  • Participants will apply the book's theoretical and pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning practices.

One graduate credit is available through St Mary's at a cost of $150.

This book study is offered at no cost to those CESA 10 districts participating in LS1, including: Abbotsford, Altoona, Augusta, Bloomer, Bruce, Cadott, Chippewa Falls, Colby, Eau Claire, Eleva-Strum, Fall Creek, Flambeau, Gilman, Gilmanton, Granton, Greenwood, Ladysmith, Lake Holcombe, Loyal, Mondovi, Neillsville, New Auburn, Osseo-Fairchild, Owen-Withee, Spencer and Thorp.

The cost for all other CESA 10 districts is $175 per participant.  The cost for those outside of CESA 10 is $300 per participant.
