Writing the District (LEA) Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Plan

Description:
The State ESSA plan will be approved this fall/winter. Each district (LEA) needs to write and be prepared to submit an ESSA plan by late Spring; this workshop will walk you through this process. The first of two sessions will be January 15 or 19 or February 5, 2018 (you pick the date that works best for you). The first session will introduce the components needed for this plan and time for district teams to begin the process. We will dig through the template provided by the State and begin to build an understanding for each objective. Session 2 (March 22 or April 10 – again you choose) will continue to build an overall understanding of what is expected in this plan. We will also walk teams through a review of the district plan with opportunities for networking and feedback. Participants should leave with a completed plan or process to follow to finish the plan.

Key Goals:

• Determine what data is needed to prepare the district ESSA plan
• Examine and discuss the template provided for the plan
• Develop a district ESSA plan
• Provide and receive peer feedback on district ESSA plans
• Network with other districts.

Who should attend?
District data, curriculum, professional development and/or ESSA planning teams, which may include curriculum and instruction coordinator, ESSA and/or Title I coordinators, teacher team leaders, Title I teachers, reading specialist, school counselors, special education teachers, English language learning teachers, building administrators or department lead teachers.

Cancellation Policy:

Any registration cancellation must be received at least 8 business days before event in order for a full conference fee refund to be issued (full refunds do not include service fees. Service fees are nonrefundable).Registration cancellations received 1-7 business days before an event, a refund, minus $50 for each participant, will be issued. Persons who are registered, but not in attendance on the day of the session ("no call, no show") will be charged the full registration fee. CESA 6 reserves the right to cancel any session due to insufficient enrollment. Participants will be notified by email if a cancellation occurs.
